Ryan Richman, Associate at McCarter & English LLP in Newark, NJ, has been a pro bono attorney with KIND since August 2013. In that time he has worked tirelessly representing four children in their immigration proceedings and has helped countless others as he has enhanced the pro bono initiative at the firm.
I really learned a lot from the children that I’ve had the pleasure of working with. Most of these children lived in horrific and extreme conditions back in their home country and their journey just to get to the US can be quite challenging. We can’t even imagine the emotions that are going through these children when they first step foot in the US. Despite all of this, in my experience, with all of the children I’ve worked with they all have extremely positive attitudes and are thrilled to be here in the U.S. and given the opportunity that they otherwise wouldn’t have.
