Changes

What is life in the other half of the world? Sometimes a person must move to a different country to have a better future. My life has changed in both positive and negative ways because I came to the United States, mostly my education, my extended family, and missing my country.

One positive change is my education, because now I learn about other cultures, I have a greater variety of subjects and I do not worry about learning things from a dictatorial government; my education is a positive change because I’m learning things that I didn’t know. One negative change is that I miss my extended family; I miss the people I grew up with, like my cousin Sebastian, I walked away from my little brother; It saddens me not to be able to share this experience with them; my extended family is a negative change because I’ve never been so far apart from the people I love. Another negative change is that I miss my country, I miss eating delicious Venezuelan food like “Queso Llanero” (White Cheese) and “pescado frito con bollitos y tajadas” (fried fish with fresh corn rolls and plantains). I miss seeing the beautiful sun illuminating the beaches; missing my country is a negative change because I left everything to come here.

Sometimes a person must move to a different country to have a better future.

In conclusion, my education, my extended family, and missing my country have changed in positive and negative ways. These changes are necessary in order for me to have a better future.
