KIND and Center for Gender and Refugee Studies (CGRS)

File Amicus Curiae Brief

On August 21, KIND along with the Center for Gender and Refugee Studies (CGRS) filed an amicus curiae brief in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit in O.A. v. Trump. In O.A., the district court issued an injunction blocking an unlawful Trump Administration rule that would block nearly anyone from seeking asylum after crossing the U.S.-Mexico border except at a lawful port of entry. KIND and CGRS, represented by counsel at Crowell & Moring LLP, provided the court with information on how and why vulnerable asylum seekers, particularly unaccompanied children, come to the border fleeing dangers that may drive them to cross between ports of entry, and pointing out Congress’s protections for these asylum seekers that the rule would circumvent.
