Los Angeles – On Friday, August 14, at 2:00 p.m. Pacific, the National Labor Relations Board counted the mail ballots received by eligible voters from KIND’s Los Angeles staff to determine the outcome of the unionization vote. Eligible staff in the Los Angeles office voted to affirm the union as their representative and become part of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM). While the election results have been tallied, either party may challenge the results of the election and conduct of the other party by next Friday, August 21. If no objections are filed, the results become certified.
Following the vote, KIND President Wendy Young stated, “We are eager to refocus much-needed attention and time on serving KIND’s clients and other children on the move who need us now more than ever before. Their safety, their access to protection, their ability to thrive after arriving in the United States is at the core of our organization. It is our most solemn responsibility at KIND, and I couldn’t ask for a better staff to see that mission through.”
