In January 2018, the Attorney General invited briefing from amici curiae relating to the use of administrative closure to take a pending case off the immigration court’s active docket for an indefinite period. This longstanding practice has eliminated unnecessary immigration court hearings for unaccompanied children in many contexts. KIND, joined by co-amici Public Counsel and Freedom Network, and represented by pro bono counsel from Goodwin Procter LLP, filed an amicus brief describing the value of retaining administrative closure as a docket management tool.
