In Their Own Words

Inspiring Stories of Immigrant and Refugee Children

KIND’s unaccompanied and separated child clients have stories of resilience, hope, bravery, fear, sorrow, and joy just like all of us, but their voices are often not heard, their experience and expertise not shared, and their humanity forgotten. A vital part of KIND’s mission is to ensure that our clients have opportunities to share their stories, their unique perspectives, and their hard-won knowledge with a variety of audiences for public education, advocacy, and their own personal and professional growth.

KIND is committed to giving our clients the tools and skills they need to undertake this work and use as they choose. In learning to take ownership of their stories and discovering their voices, clients often find a sense of purpose and belonging. This enables them to share their talents and skills within their communities which benefits us all. KIND’s storytelling work with our clients is child-centered and trauma-informed and ensures that the clients lead in all decision-making related to their stories.
