Public Comment on a Public Rule for Work Authorization and Work Permits (EADs)

KIND submitted a public comment on a rule that temporarily increases the automatic extension period for work authorization and work permits (EADs) for certain renewal applicants to help prevent their work authorization from lapsing due to government processing backlogs.  KIND’s comment focuses on the importance of EADs for unaccompanied children–both as a form of government-issued identification that may be required to access important services, and as a means of helping older youth to access safe and lawful training/work opportunities to support their security and wellbeing and to reduce their vulnerability to trafficking and labor exploitation.
