“My Story”: A rap by KIND client Josie

by Alex Pender   on May 8, 2019
KIND client Josie* fled sexual and gender-based violence in El Salvador for safety in the United States. She wanted to share her story to help others – and found her voice through writing and performing her rap, which we filmed in silhouette to protect her identity.
Josie has a tough story to tell – the sad reality for most of the unaccompanied immigrant and refugee children KIND works with – but as you will see, she has found her voice and her power, despite all she has lived through. Thank you to violinist and composer Tim Fain for producing and performing the orchestration.
