I am happy to say that two months ago, my asylum was approved. Today, I feel happy because there is a certainty that I am safe.
Over time, I became fluent in English and with hard work and the motivation to succeed, I am now ranked number two in my senior class. The journey was not easy, but it has been amazing to get to know new people, myself. and the ability I did not know I have to overcome my fears and challenges.
I feel: “Sad for the my people in my country. Happy because me and my family are safe. Determined that I won’t waste this safety and peace and try hard. Homesick and miss my friends.”
