KIND Urges Congress to Protect Unaccompanied Children from Mass Returns and Exploitation

Kids in Need of Defense (KIND) submitted a statement to the Senate Judiciary Committee highlighting grave concerns about the Trump administration’s attempts to summarily return unaccompanied children to dangerous conditions in their home countries. The statement details how recent policies undermine the Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act (TVPRA), restrict safe sponsor placements, and expose children to heightened risks of trafficking, exploitation, and abuse. KIND calls on Congress to defend legal safeguards, ensure access to counsel, and halt unlawful returns that threaten children’s safety and well-being.
