KIND’s Reintegration Program supports unaccompanied and separated children as they return to their home countries and rebuild their lives. Since 2011, the program has provided family reunification, psychosocial support, and case management through a child-centered, trauma-informed, and rights-based model that promotes children’s safety, well-being, and agency. Implemented in partnership with trusted local organizations in Guatemala and Honduras, the program has reached more than 14,700 individuals, including over 2,700 returned children and youth up to age 22.
In 2024, KIND launched a pilot study to better understand KIND’s Reintegration impact and strengthen long-term learning. The study aims to assess the program’s potential contributions to positive outcomes such as personal safety, access to education, and sustainable livelihood opportunities, while also testing a new tracking methodology. This approach will enable KIND to follow participants every six months for two years after program completion, embedding long-term follow-up into the model to better measure and support participants’ ongoing well-being.
